On the 19th of August, World Humanitarian Day will be observed globally, emphasizing the urgent need to protect humanitarians. In February 2024, the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) released an open letter calling for the protection of healthcare facilities and personnel in conflict zones. This initiative highlights the essential role healthcare professionals play during crises, providing essential emergency care and helping mitigate the impact on vulnerable populations. Till date, the open letter has been signed by health professionals in over 76 countries and territories. FDI strongly urges dental professionals worldwide to join in supporting this initiative.
