Each year, FDI supports three to five impactful projects through WDDF, with a maximum grant of CHF 10,000 per project.

To be eligible for WDDF, projects must align with national oral health priorities, have a strong educational and public health focus, and show promise for sustainability. These projects should establish innovative oral health prevention and care programs, particularly for disadvantaged populations. Furthermore, the initiatives must address at least one of the following topics: education, oral health promotion, disease prevention, primary healthcare, or response to COVID-19.

FDI welcomes applications from both within and outside its network. In addition to FDI Regular or Associate members, non-members are also encouraged to apply for funding. To qualify, non-member applicants must include an endorsement letter from a Regular or Associate FDI member national dental association (NDA). Previous applicants have included ministries of health, national dental associations, non-governmental organizations, hospitals, and universities.
