Earlier this month, FDI President Dr Gerhard K. Seeberger and Unilever CEO Mr Alan Jope sat down to discuss the impact of their organizations’ joint ambition and 14-year partnership to teach the world to Brush Day & Night. They exchanged thoughts on the lifelong importance of good oral care and the how a healthy mouth benefits general health and well-being.
"Oral health should be your best companion at all stages of life."
They also emphasized the importance of unifying efforts around World Oral Health Day on 20 March and using a fun celebration to convey a serious message about oral health promotion and oral disease prevention.
FDI and Unilever have been working together for better oral health outcomes over the last 14 years. In 2005, they launched a partnership to raise awareness about oral health around the world, called Brush Day & Night today. Through a 21-day oral health education programme in schools and special engagement on World Oral Health Day, Brush Day & Night teaches children and adults about the benefits of good oral hygiene and shows them how to brush their teeth twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste.
In case you missed it: webcast of the Brush Day & Night Symposium at the FDI World Dental Congress in San Francisco is now available
During the symposium, entitled Brush Day & Night Phase IV: Achieving Improved and Sustainable Oral Health Worldwide, project leaders guided participants through their journey to implement Brush Day & Night over two years in 20 schools. Participants also learned how local communities continue to benefit from the programme. Watch and learn how this Brush Day & Night could be adapted to your setting.
